The retreat

Six days on the Nicoya Peninsula, where the jungle meets the Pacific.

A six-day Pacific coast retreat in a Costa Rican Blue Zone. Wake to monkeys, walk to tide pools, practice yoga over the ocean. Five nights at a hilltop lodge above Manzanillo, for a circle of just eight.

Calamocha sits on a hilltop above Manzanillo, on the Nicoya Peninsula — one of only five Blue Zones on Earth. From the infinity pool, the jungle drops away into the Pacific. You’ll wake to howler monkeys and fall asleep to crickets and distant waves. Five wooden villas, hammocks under the trees, untouched beaches a few minutes down the trail.

For five nights, this is home for a circle of just eight. Two yoga sessions a day on the deck above the Pacific, three meals from the on-site chef, guided walks to tide pools, horseback rides through jungle and surf. December to February is sea-turtle hatching season here — at sunset, hatchlings make their way to the water just down the road. A soundbath with a local healer, a surf lesson in Santa Teresa for those who want it, a hammock and a book for those who don’t.

Led by Antoinette, held by Isabelle. All-inclusive from San José — domestic flight, transfers, meals and activities all taken care of.

Questions, answered

How do I get there?

Fly into San José (SJO), Costa Rica. There are direct flights from New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas and Toronto, and we pick you up from the airport to take care of the journey from there.

Can I come on my own?

Yes, and most of our guests do. A small-group retreat is one of the easiest, safest ways to travel solo: you arrive on your own and leave with a close circle of friends. You will never feel out of place.

Is Costa Rica safe?

Very. Costa Rica has no army, a long tradition of peace, and is one of the safest countries in Latin America. We handle all transport and you are always within a small, cared-for group. Solo women travelers feel completely at home here.

Can you accommodate dietary needs?

Absolutely. Meals are vegetarian and made fresh on site. Tell us about any allergies or vegan and gluten-free needs when you book, and we will take care of it.

Is there wifi?

Yes, there is wifi at the property if you need to check in with home or work. That said, most guests find the real magic is in switching off for a few days.

What will the weather be like?

You will be here in the dry season: warm, sunny days and clear skies, ideal for hiking, yoga and time outdoors. Pack light, breathable clothes and plenty of sunscreen.
